Cancelled – Devonian Gardens – December 19 & Other “Stuff”

Due to the recent Alberta Government Lockdown, the sketching event at

Devonian Gardens has been cancelled

Do not forget about getting a few of your sketches mounted on foam core and delivered to Jim. https://calgaryurbansketchers.com/2020/11/15/calgary-urban-sketchers-at-cafe-rosso-february-2021/ You can message him on Facebook or email me at Belinda.Ramscar@shaw.ca to figure out a way to deliver your sketches to Jim. Don’t forget to sanitize them.

I’d like to take this moment to wish everyone a ๐ŸŽ„Merry Christmas and all the best in 2021๐Ÿฅณ. Despite of what 2020 brought us it was still good fun to organize our outings and meet with you. I feel sketching gave us a healthy avenue to get out of our heads, get outside and interact with people, bringing a bit of normalcy to our lives. Thanks to all of you who made it out, who posted on Facebook, and who sent me ideas. Thanks to Jeff for posting our monthly events on the Events for Sketchers page. And a big thank you to all of you behind the scene who I bounced questions off and asked for your advice. You know who you are.

See you in 2021. Take care of you and yours.๐Ÿ’—

Sketching From Your Vehicle – Sunnyside Outing

Under warm blue skies 14 people participated in this event, including two new members. Welcome Sue and Janet! Some hearty souls sketched outside their vehicles – now that is Canadian๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ Where we met for the photo op there was a friendly game of Shinny going on, and a couple of young girls learning how to skate on an outdoor rink. This park also had one of the COVID inspired fire pits, which I thought was pretty cool. Also all very Canadian๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ

Remember to get your favorite sketches mounted on foam core for Rosso.ย https://calgaryurbansketchers.com/2020/11/15/calgary-urban-sketchers-at-cafe-rosso-february-2021/ If need be, you can Message Jim on Facebook, or email me. I have a gut feeling Devonian Gardens event will be cancelled.

This week coming up we are sketching virtually with Edmonton USK. The theme is Dashboard – yup, another sketch from your vehicle, more details to follow.

Stay well and safe. ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ

Sketching From Your Vehicle – Sunnyside Community

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5 11:30 โ€“ 14:00

Note Time Change: Time is moved up an hour to catch the warmer part of the day.

Description: This is one of Calgaryโ€™s oldest communities, incorporated into the city in 1904. There are a good number of older homes to sketch in this area, maybe a back alley would appeal to you, or one of the many garage door murals painted by residents, or behind businesses. There is local art such as a tree with gargoyles in front of 659 3 AV NW.

Here is a great article on Sunnyside. As you scroll thu the article you will see a link called Google Map, which will show you locations and descriptions of art and murals.https://www.cbc.ca/…/road-ahead-calgary-sunnyside-alley…

Meet: Find a spot and start to sketch from the comfort of your car, then meet at 2:15 at the New Edinburough Park playground (corner of 3 Ave & 5A St NW) for our photo op.

If more name 10 people arrive, we will break into two groups, well distanced from each other.

If you are not comfortable meeting, send your sketch to Belinda Ramscar by noon, Sunday, December 6. Email address listed on our web page. jpg format preferred.

Inclement Weather: If snowing or below -20 Celsius, event will be cancelled.

Don’t forget your mask!!! Must be worn when we can not maintain the proper social distance, especially when we are meeting at the end for the photo op.

Please stay home if you feel unwell, uncomfortable or are exhibiting any symptoms.

I Spy My Little Eye – Central Library & Home Sketches

Six sketchers came to the Library yesterday, and one was there on Thursday. The library definitely is not the same place. It was eerily quiet when we first got there, then people started to trickle in, and I mean trickle. I did notice some may have been first timers as the cameras were out. Nice to see our library continues to amaze those who visit.

Remember to get your favorite sketches mounted on foam core for Rosso. https://calgaryurbansketchers.com/2020/11/15/calgary-urban-sketchers-at-cafe-rosso-february-2021/

Next sketch outing is December 5 – Sketch From Your Vehicle – Sunnyside.

Stay well and safe๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽจ
