Cochrane, Historic Downtown
I have a feeling that street parking in & around historic downtown Cochrane will be prime, so you may have to drive around a bit, and you may find yourself walking for a bit, but nothing is far away. All parking is free in Cochrane.
Entering from NW Calgary, west on Crowchild Tr/Bow VAlley Trail (1A Hwy): There is construction at the bottom of the Cochrane 1A hill, so you may find yourself stuck in traffic. The traffic moves pretty good, you will not be there very long. When you get to the bottom, stay in the thru lane, avoid the first left at the first lights. I would suggest going left on 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th Ave to get near Historic Downtown.
Entering from Hwy 22: At the intersection of Hwy 22 & Bow Valley Trail (Hwy 1A) turn right (east) onto Hwy 1A. Two options from here. One, stay on Hwy 1A and going left on 5th, 4th, 3rd or 2nd Ave to get near Historic Downtown. Two, at the Y after the Cochrane Ranch, vere right directly onto 1 ST W.
Description: Historic Downtown Cochrane will be packed with everything from vintage cars from the 1920s to today’s specialty vehicles. In 2019 the show attracted over 250 cars on a rainy day, and this year they are hoping for 300 to 400 cars. So start practicing sketching cars. For inspiration Google Paul Heaston, who does a great job on sketching cars in ink.
A bonus is the Cochrane Cultural Days are on. Of interest , there is an Art Show in the Lions Club Event Centre, which is across for the Starbucks on 5th Ave . I marked as an “E” on the above map. Thank you Audrey A for bringing to to my attention.
Meeting Place: Find a spot and start sketching when you arrive. Feel free to arrive earlier. Plan to meet up on the grass area across the street from Cochrane Coffee Traders on 2nd Ave at 13:45.
Inclement Weather: Event will be cancelled.
Please stay home if you feel unwell, exhibiting any COVID symptoms, or are uncomfortable meeting in a group where some may or may not be wearing a mask.
