Description: Shepard Wetland at Ralph Klein Park functions as both a stormwater storage facility and a treatment wetland that naturally filters stormwater, improving the quality of stormwater before it is discharged south to the Bow River. At 156 hectares (385 acres), it is the largest constructed stormwater treatment wetland in Canada. The grounds themselves have a picnic area, a community orchard that boasts five varieties of pear trees and eight varieties of apple trees, and public art, titled Hawk Hill Calgary Sentinels, by Beverly Pepper. This artwork sits on a hill and whistles when the wind blows through.
Meet: Find a spot and start sketching when you arrive. Feel free to arrive earlier. Plan to meet up at 13:15 at the bottom of the hill that the Hawk Hill Calgary Sentinels stand – south west side.
Inclement Weather: Event will be rescheduled to the following weekend.
