Sketching the Glenmore Dam and Area

June 26
Session 1 (Official) – 10:00 am – 12:15 Photo Op 12:30
Session 2 – (Extra) 1:00 pm – ???? To be discussed

Description: The Glenmore Dam and area, along the Elbow River Pathway in the SW, is a vast area to explore, with a feast of vantages for your choosing. Ideas include the view from the top of the dam, view from the east side of the dam, the Water Treatment Plant building itself (built in 1933), the view from below the dam on the north side, and view of Elbow River.

I am going to try something different. Since the area is so vast, we will have two sketch sessions. The morning session will be the “official” one. If there is an appetite for the second session we will discuss the particulars at the photo op.

Park in the parking lot next to Safety City. See image below.

Meet: I will stay in the parking lot until 9:45 to describe the area if you are unfamiliar. Otherwise, find a spot and start sketching when you arrive. Feel free to arrive earlier. Plan to meet up at 12:30 back in the Safety City parking lot to share sketches, and for a quick photo-op.

If you are not comfortable meeting, then you are welcome to go during the week. Send your sketch to Belinda Ramscar by noon June 27. Email address listed on our web page, . jpg format preferred. Or post on our Facebook Page and I will grab it.

Inclement Weather: Event may be rescheduled. You will be given ample notice.

Don’t forget to bring your mask! Must be worn when we can not maintain the proper social distance, especially when we are meeting for the photo op.

Please stay home if you feel unwell, uncomfortable, or are exhibiting any symptoms. https://www.alberta.ca/guidance-on-outdoor-activities.aspx
