Next week’s sketching event is at Kensington Art Supply. We have been invited back for a second time after our very successful show & tell event last October. This is a great opportunity for our members to promote the club, answer questions, share our sketches & techniques, and network with other members, while fitting in some on site sketching if you feel inspired. Kensington Art has a great selection of urban sketching materials so make sure you save some time to look around. We will have an area at the back of the store with a table where we will display our sketch books, tools of the trade and favorite urban sketching books as well as a few easels for our foam core sketches which were recently on display at the Judith Umbach Library.
Members: You can answer questions at the table and/or sketch in the store. Please bring some of your sketches/sketchbooks for display in addition to the one you plan to sketch in. Also bring your kit to display if you are not sketching. If you are sketching in the store be prepared to have the public watch you sketch, and to answer questions they may have. Bring your stool; you can sketch anywhere in the store. If you have sketches on foam core that were not displayed these past two months at the library, bring them along for the public to see. These will be displayed on easels. Come around 10 am to help set up or get your sketching area set up. Even if you can’t join us for the whole event, stop in and say hello. Last year we went to the diner next door for lunch/coffee afterwards.
For those who are curious, or members who are a bit shy: Come down and check us out and ask any of those burning questions. New members always welcome. See our members sketching around the store, or dive right in, and start sketching yourself.
Thanks to Deb for help writing this post.
